The Presidential Election

To be fair and upfront, let me state from the beginning that I did not vote for President Elect Obama.  Actually, I have never voted for a Presidential nominee of the Democratic Party simply because of their stand on abortion and homosexuality.

With that being said, I head the other day someone make this statement concerning Mr. Obama. They said, "He is not my President."  That was something that caused me to go "hmmmm."  I was confused because it is a silly and absurb statement!  Of course he is your President and is is my President , that is, if you are a citizen of the United States.

As a Christian,  I am to pray for our President and all who rule in authority (Romans 13:1-7, I Tim 2:1-4).  We pray for them because government is of God, and the absence of government is anarchy.  We should pray for their wisdom and guidance regardless of their spiritual condition.  II Chronicles 7:14 still works!

Now praying for them does not mean that one stiffles the voice of dissent.  If what they are doing is not good for the country, we as citizens should voice our opposition.  That is what this republic is founded upon.  However, we shouldn't stop praying for them.

In closing, President Obama is my President and my heart's desire is that the Holy Spirit will be able to influence his decisions and policies.  If not , then in 2012 we have a chance to elect someone who hopefully will be better for the country.

Those are my feelings and that's the musings and ramblings of a Christian and a citizen of this great nation.
