I was in Colombia holding a meeting the day Michael Jackson died. When I heard the news I wasn’t the least surprised.   I have always felt that he would die young. What did take me by surprise was the way the news media continually covered the story hour after hour, day after day.

I want to be really clear with everyone. While I am sorry when anyone passes away, especially one who does not know the Lord, for the life of me I can not understand the world’s lauding of a man who made no real contribution to society, except to abuse and molest little boys. I realize that some may be offended by that, but it is what I believe and I am not afraid to say it. All of America went crazy over his death. His memorial was carried by almost all the networks. It was as if the nation had come to a halt.

America applauded Jackson, yet there has been scant mention of the fact that several American solders have been killed in Afghanistan since his death on June 26th. These are patriots who gave their life in defense of their country on foreign soil to defend our freedom! Where is the news coverage of their sacrifice? Where are the memorials? I submit that these young men contributed more to America and the world than Michael Jackson ever did.

What kind of country have we become when we dismiss heroes and idolize perverts? I know that many may be offended at my remarks but I don’t care. It is about time the citizens of this country who have a little decency left, stood up and said, “Enough is enough.” As I look at Jackson’s adulation I am reminded of a saying I heard once that went like this: “We worship what we love.” If that is true, than what does that say about America?

These are the musing and ramblings of a disgusted American.
