A Republican No More

I have been a registered Republican for 36 years.  In that time I have been a faithful voter.  I for the most part, have voted for the Republican candidate on the local, state,  and national level.  However, on Monday January 5th, I changed my voter affiliation to Independant.

Though I am a conservative,  and that won't change, I no longer feel the Republican party speaks for the true conservatives in America. These past eight years under a Republican administration has been a disaster for this nation on many fronts.  While I do applaud President Bush for putting into place measures that have protected and safeguarded us from terrorist attacks, I believe in the financial sector he has failed this country and in fact harmed our great nation.

President Bush has spent us into the ground.  Our great nation is in greater debt than ever before.  We are paying our bills with money borrowed from China.  We are a debtor nation.  As well, I believe the Republican party has become self-righteous, and God hates self-righteousness.

There is no Republican on the scene today that inspires me to follow them.  There is no one in the political arena that is standing up for middle America.

As a Christian, I must lok at our nation and the World through the eyes of Christ, and not a political party.  To me, everything is Spiritual: politics, the ecomomy, social needs, etc. I am amused that some in the Church think Jesus is a Republican!

The Church must wake up and realize that our help does not come from Washington, or a political party, but our help comes from above. Jehoshaphat  understood this in II Chronicales Ch. 20.  Jehoshaphat, facing the onslaught of the armies of Moab and Ammon knew that Judah's survival could only happen through God.  IN verse 12 he said "for we have no might against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon you."

I guess this is where we are as a nation.  The problems we face are beyond a political party or a President.  Our only hope is the Lord Jesus Christ. As for me, I no longer look to man to lead or solve our problems, I look to the Lord and the Lord alone.

That is the musings and ramblings of a frustrated voter.
