A Sense of Humor

One thing I find lacking in too many circles today is a sense of humor. In this politically correct time we live in, it seems as if we have lost the ability to laugh at the obviously funny things that happen around us. I’m amazed at how serious people take themselves; the inability to laugh at one’s own self is on of the greatest liberations one could imagine.

To laugh at one’s own silly mistakes is a great stress buster. I’m short, I’m slightly rotund, I can’t sing, nor play an instrument; I can’t pronounce certain words.  The English Language at times gives me a fit, but what can you expect? I’m the product of the Louisiana Public School System (I can hear teachers pounding their chests, “How dare you”). Hey, chill out, it’s only a joke, and doesn’t impinge the character of any teacher; unless you were one of my high school history teachers that didn’t know when Pearl Harbor was bombed.  If you were a shop teacher, maybe you wouldn’t know but a history teacher, come on now!

I find too many preachers take themselves way too seriously, and have way to high of an opinion of themselves. If God can use a donkey to preach, I don’t think we should get too caught up in self importance. Let’s all loosen up and learn to laugh at the funny things around us and to laugh at ourselves.

Let me leave you with this great piece of wisdom: “If you do your Christmas shopping at the Circle K you might just be a redneck”. Don’t get mad, just laugh and laugh and laugh. You will feel better, I promise.

This is musings and ramblings of one who loves to laugh.
